About

For more than 25 years, we’ve been producing the most advanced range of Ultra High Performance Concrete technologies and services. Born from the desire to minimize inputs while maximizing performance, Ductal® stands for optimal strength, ductility and durability. Decades of global practice, research and development have allowed us to acquire the technology and expertise needed to bring the most ambitious projects to life —without a hitch, anywhere in the world. Our team consists of a diverse collective of licensed engineers, architects, construction consultants and field technicians — all working directly with our clients to develop tailored but pragmatic answers to some of the most important questions in the construction industry today. By inventing construction materials that use less and last longer, we’re enabling more responsible built environments that lift up communities while being more respectful to their natural environment. For the sake of people and the planet we all depend on, we’re bringing concrete solutions to tomorrow’s challenges.

Build.
Reinforce.
Protect.

Ductal® UHPC

Traditional concrete has been around, proven its worth, and made its mark on our built environment. It gave the 20th century its signature look, and it is still by far the most used building material today.

But it was time for a revolution, to help it stay relevant in the face of our current – and future – challenges.

Now more than ever, we need to build buildings and public works that are stronger, more durable, more resistant. And there’s nothing frivolous about wanting them to also be greener and more aesthetically inspiring as well.

Using Ductal® means you get to do more, with less. Or more with more. Either way, we give you that choice by amping up concrete’s best properties with our steel-fiber reinforcement and innovative formulation.

Strength

Ductal®’s fiber-reinforced formulations provide up to 11 times the compressive strength of traditional concrete. We can go for matrix resistance up to 12 MPa (1,700 psi) and with fiber contribution to 20 MPa (2,900 psi) when thermally treated. This also means ductility, resistance to bending under flexural loads, and compressive strength ranging from 100 to >200 MPa depending on the formulation.

Ductal®’s fiber content per unit volume (about 30-50 million fibers per cubic meter) gives it excellent ductility in flexion, with flexural strength up to ten times that of standard concrete.

This means the right Ductal® formulation for the right application, using just enough material and performance to get the job done without waste and doing more with less material.

Performances

Ductal®’s shrinking and creep factors are among its more remarkable properties: while ordinary concrete creep factors can reach 3 or 4, and competing high-performance concrete is lower, Ductal®’s is lower still, at 0.8-1.0. When a thermal treatment is applied, this can drop even further, to about 0.2.

Due to its very low water cement ratio and high quality, consistent materials, Ductal® is able to provide a stable, consistent, and relatively low shrinkage value. The use of heat treatment can further reduce the amount of shrinkage observed.

This means better castings, lower wastage, and better finished products. In short, better production performance and cost savings.

Increased durability

Go ahead and project yourself >100 years into the future.

Ductal® UHPC’s extremely low porosity makes it very impermeable giving it 10X better durability compared to other cementitious materials. This is another advanced Ductal® attribute that enables you to build for the long-term and design for the future. This means it lasts longer and performs under even the most extreme climatic and chemical conditions.

Resistance

Enhanced impermeability also makes Ductal® suitable for roofing structures, awnings, dams and other elements with watertight requirements . Aging tests have highlighted Ductal®’s self-healing ability, resulting in diminished maintenance requirements. Its abrasion resistance is RM1 to RM2, according to NFP18-470. Ductal® chloride resistance is also very high due to its very low transfer properties. Our product’s chloride diffusion testing ranges from 1*10^-13 to 4.5 10^-13m²/s @90d, according to XP18-462 adapted according to appendix A of NFP18-470.

Unparalleled aesthetics

Ductal®’s formulations make it adaptable to a range of production techniques including spray/projection, traditional casting, 3-D printing or even wet-bending. It supports greater loads with more slender structures and protects with thinner thicknesses achieving better use of space and materials.

Because of its self-compacting nature, it can replicate intricate textures, patterns, and finishes. It can add depth and shadow, or simply blend in. And like conventional concrete, it’s available in a wide range of textures, finishes and colors. It is an extremely adaptable and efficient material that is designed to perform. What you do with Ductal® is up to you!

A solution for concrete results

And we don’t call it a solution just because the word has become a shorthand for “innovative product”. Ductal® is just as much a material as it is a community. Our partners offer technologies from production processes to coatings & hardware, tested, proven, compatible with Ductal products, and most importantly great design & engineering.

We don’t just provide you with the material itself – we provide you with our expert guidance and global network - from your project’s design phase to delivery so you can bring your vision to life.
